My Story

We were told that her owner's could no longer afford her. She lived with young children and other dogs. How could anyone give up such a fantastic family member who is not even 2 years old? This funny face couldn't be more amusing, she is a character and does really funny things to get attention including making funny faces and giving crazy wet sloppy kisses. ...unbelievable right? But Honey Bear was most likely given up due to poor breeding . She has a left hip that is dysplastic and was probably never dealt with using any pain management. HB has been to an Orthopaedic Surgeon who thinks that she can probably lead a fantastic life if the swelling can go down and she builds up alot of muscle and stays on Glucosamine and other supplements. We consulted another vet who feels the same way and that is what we are going to try first. We are not ruling out surgery but we have personally experienced major success with a great diet and supplements and both vets feel that surgery would be a last resort. If HB needs surgery, it will be a surgery called Femoral Head and neck surgery. http://www.vetsurgerycentral.com/fho.htm With this surgery they walk out of the vet's office the next day with little restricted activity. American Bulldog Rescue will cover this surgery if needed but are really hoping that with some love and great food, proper exercise and good supplements HB will be happy and pain free forever!!! People, just because you buy a pure bred dog from a breeder does not guarantee that they are perfect. And a note to Honey Bear's "breeder" ...you sould be tarred and feathered and ashamed to walk this earth. PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application.
