My Story

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or the North Central Texas area. NAME: Honey GENDER: Female (Spayed) AGE: Approximately 1 1/2 years old WEIGHT: About 5 pounds DOGS/CATS: Good with small dogs, Good with cats CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (13 and older) Meet Honey. This girl is aptly named as she has the sweetest personality. She is loving and loyal. Honey is an awesome girl and we cannot wait for you to meet her. Honey was found as a stray in a suburb outside of Dallas. She had no collar, no tags and no microchip. It appears she had been out for awhile as she was thin with long nails and was covered with dirt and fleas. The Good Samaritans who found her searched for her family for several weeks. When no family could be found, they reached out to CRT and asked if we could bring her into our program. We are thrilled to have this sweet girl in our program. Honey is young and playful. There are no dogs in her foster home, but we have introduced her to numerous dogs on daily walks. She has done well with each dog she has met. There are cats in her foster home and Honey gets along well with all of them! Honey loves to play with her family. She will run and chase. She is just learning to play with toys. She has a favorite fish shaped toy that she carries with her everywhere and even takes to bed with her! Honey enjoys being outside and will explore the yard. She will need a very secure wooden fence as she does show a tendency to be a “darter” and she is fast! Her new family may also want to put a barrier at the front door to keep her from rushing outside as the door opens. Honey really enjoys the warmth of the sun and will lay and sun herself, soaking in the rays. Honey especially loves her humans. She will follow you from room to room so she can be part of the action. Her Foster Mom works from home. Honey loves to be in her office with her while she works. She has also photo bombed some of her zoom conference calls, and has quickly become a company favorite! They now ask to see her during the zoom calls! How many Chihuahuas do you know that are participating in zoom calls and helping to make company decisions? Honey loves sitting with you and getting cuddles. She loves to be held and she loves attention. She loves to burrow under soft blankets. We have started calling her “the love bug”! She wants to be the social chairman of your home. Our vet estimates that Honey is about 1 1/2 years old. She weighs a perfect 5 pounds. She has a honey colored coat with white highlights. Honey has amazing ears. Her eyes will melt your heart. She is super curious and will watch everything around her. And when she gives you “the head tilt” …. well, it’s over – LOL. The ideal family for Honey would be an active to moderate activity home with a big backyard to play in. We believe Honey will do well with another small doggy buddy. We also think she would be fine as an only dog as long as her family was around alot to give her attention and love. Honey would be great for a work-from-home family because she enjoys family time. She would love to hang around in your office all day and would be no problem at all. She is super quiet. Honey does need a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works away from home 10-12 hours a day). She loves car rides and is really quiet when she is in her pet carrier on car trips! There are no children in her foster home, but we think she would be great with older, mature children (13 and older). She is very friendly and we think she would be a wonderful fit for a young, active family. Honey is super smart. She is working on her housetraining and doing well going both outside and on potty pads. She does have an occasional accident, but is improving weekly. At night, she sleeps in her dog bed in her own private room. We have trained her to walk on a harness and leash and she loves daily walks. Honey is being fostered in the DFW area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at https://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ Honey is spayed, neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family, could that family be yours? This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation required. As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met. After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email [email protected] if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
