My Story

Meet Honey, formerly known as Jinx! True to her name, she is as sweet as can be, with a gorgeous honey-colored coat. Nearly a year old and weighing around 50 pounds, Honey is not expected to grow much larger. Although her breed isn't definitively known without a DNA test, she displays characteristics of a Lab mix. Honey's background is somewhat mysterious, as she was found as a stray before ending up in a shelter. There, she faced the risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding and a noticeable limp, which the shelter couldn't investigate due to budget constraints. Fortunately, Honey was rescued by a wonderful foster who has helped her learn what it's like to be a cherished household member. X-rays revealed that Honey had two healed fractures, resulting in her right hind leg being shorter than the left. Although this causes her to limp occasionally, it doesn’t cause her pain or slow her down. The vet has advised against FHO surgery, as it wouldn’t correct the limp and she’s not in discomfort. Honey loves all kinds of toys, including plush squeaky ones, balls, chew bones, and ropes. She's crate and potty trained and exhibits all the cherished traits of a Labrador: loyalty, friendliness, intelligence, and an eagerness to please. She will benefit from continued basic obedience training, but her sweet and loving nature makes her a joy to be around. She has lived harmoniously with both small and large dogs, as well as teenagers, and while her interactions with younger children have been limited, her gentle disposition suggests she would be great with kids of all ages. She has not been around cats but she has seen livestock through a fence and can be cat tested upon request. Honey is looking for a forever family that can offer her the love and care she so richly deserves. She would thrive in a home with other dogs or at least one with a yard—ideally fenced, though this is not a strict requirement. She perfectly balances an easy-going temperament with readiness for adventure. Requirements: - No apartment/condo. - Access to a yard, ideally fenced. Honey is up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed, and tested negative for heartworm. Note: All dogs are located in Texas and will be transported only after adoption, with transportation included in the adoption fee. We make educated guesses about the breed based on their features and characteristics, but cannot guarantee the specific breed mix.* If you're ready to embark on a rewarding journey with a sweet, loving puppy like Honey, consider welcoming her into your family.
