Honey arrived through a transfer from a rescue partner, and she’s here for another shot at a forever home!
Honey’s mother and two of her littermates were adopted from WAHS last summer, while Honey had been adopted before the transport left. Unfortunately it turns out that family was unwilling to devote the needed time to a puppy. Honey was returned at 1 year old without being potty trained or knowing general obedience skills.
Lucky for Honey though, the rescue she returned to was amazing. Their team quickly got Honey trained and ready for a second chance. As soon as they could, they arranged for Honey to come up to WAHS.
Thanks to Honey’s strong treat-motivation she catches on to training, quickly mastering ‘sit,’ ‘lay down,’ and ‘shake.’ And she’s a GREAT walker. Honey would love a friend to go on regular walks, hikes, and outings together. Keeping Honey busy, both physically and mentally, is key to her long-term success.
The one thing Honey loves above all else is a good game of fetch - especially with tennis balls. If she had the choice, she’d probably choose a tennis ball over dog playtime any day! With that said though, Honey has been part of large play groups and gets along with dogs who have a similarly rough play style.
In order to thrive, Honey must have another dog friend in the home. Cats are a no go, but she’d do well around older children who understand and respect her space.
Honey is an intelligent young dog with lots to offer as a loyal companion. She just needs to find the right person/home, and we’re confident she will this time around!
