My journey to adoption has been a little longer than most of the dogs here at HSMC. BUT, my day is finally here everyone! I am officially up for adoption! Let me start with the basics. My name is Homer. The people here gave me that name and I really like it. I have an estimated date of birth of March of 2019 and currently weigh around 88lbs. I am a big boy that is full of love and affection! I have been told my eyes say it all. Everyone here tells me how cute I am everyday and that I am such a good boy. I really like that. I made my way here after a nice lady found me out wandering around on my own and she was nice enough to give me a ride to make sure I was safe and sound. I am so glad she did because this place has been so good for me. When I got here the Vet staff found out I had Heartworm. But I completed all my treatments like a champ and I am doing great now. I really love to take walks. I have even been on some field trips with staff and volunteers to get a pup cup and I go to the local park frequently. They say I do really great with car rides so if you are looking for a road trip companion, I might be your guy. I love to play with toys! The soft squishy kind seem to be my favorite but I am not picky! I seem to love everyone I meet, but the staff has not seen me with little kids. Just because of my size, it might be best if I go to a home with kids who are a little older and have been around dogs. I do great walking on a leash, but when I get excited I do pull a bit, and I am strong, so I should go home with someone who can handle me well. I would prefer a home with no small animals, but I might be fine with a dog buddy after a slow introduction. I really am just a gentle giant with a heart of gold looking for my furever home. Our adoption fees vary, Shelter Dogs are $180, Prison Dogs are $250, Puppies are $300, and Popular Pure-Breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, de-worming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a 1 year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17, this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be done using credit card or cash.
