My Story

MAY 4, 2005: UPDATE

Hero has been here just a bit over 2 weeks. He had lots of hair chewed from his tail and rear limbs. I found some chiropractic glitches with his lower back and also gave him a dose of Adequan. He is now also neutered and has a microchip. A quiet dog on his chain, good eater and doesn't dig holes. I will turn him loose with the rest of the crew in another week.

APRIL 12, 2005:

This gentleman was anonymously left in the overnight dropoff cages at the shelter with no information. Hero is a bit shy, but is also very curious and will come over to say hello. He is quiet and has a calm demeanor. His hips and tail are badly chewed.

Hero went mushing with our volunteers on April 8th, running in an 8-dog team: "Hero is a very nice middle aged male. He loves to go, is driven and is an experienced sled dog. We ran him up front and he was excellent! His gait seems a little funny, though he didn't seem to have pain at all. This guy was excited to go and really likes being a sled dog. Hero is probably 50 pounds, has a nice build and a sweet gentleman. Great with other dogs. His chewed hips indicate a chiropractic problem that often can be remedied with one appointment for adjustment. He is a nice dog with a good attitude and did very well in lead. He is fairly thin."
