Henry-adopted

Henry is around 4 months old 3-21-07 and he got his second vaccine today. He is so sweet and ready for a home, he was owner surrendered so we are guessing at his breed.

Update from Henry's foster 4/3/07

Just want to update you on Henry. He is a Jack Russell terrier mix and will be a medium size dog. He is a great dog!!!!! He is very loving and playful. He loves all animals and people. We call him Snoop-Dog because he kind of looks like Snoopy. He adapts well and quickly and really loves to crawl into your lap. He will be great with kids and will be easy to house break. We have had him in the house several times and he hasn't had an accident. I really hate to part with him because he is just such as great dog with a great personality. A family would be lucky to have him as an addition to their family!!!!

Update from Henry's foster 3/28/07

Henry (or Snoop-Dog as Rick calls him) is a wonderful pup!!! He gets along very well with large and small dogs and plays well with my cat. I do let him in the house and he enjoys crawling up in your lap for quality time!!!! He enjoys playing with rag toys and eating snacks. He has not made a mess in the house yet, but we only bring him in at night to play with him. He will jump up in your arms and is just about to master landing in your arms but he is still a little clumsy. He is a beautiful dog and I think he has a lot of Jack Russel terrier in him. He is very intelligent and would make a great addition to a family with children and/or other animals.

This dog is Urgent because the shelter it is in is in Arkansas and is overfull, therefore dogs and puppies alike are on the euthanasia list. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us nasty letters about why we euthanize, this is not our choice, we do not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many of them as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.

CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.

SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.

SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.

HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.

PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
