Hemi

Hemi first came into us when his owners moved and left him behind all alone. The day he came in, he seemed so thankful to have been found and finally get the attention he deserved. We could tell that no one seemed to put any time into Hemi as he doesn't quite know how to control his excitement and has a harder time taking a break in new situations. He will need someone who will help him learn how to relax and how to help him with proper greetings. Because of his excitement he will need an owner who is experienced with young adolescent dogs. We recommend no cats or young kids for Hemi due to his excitement. He may be able to be homed with another dog that is submissive, and with a proper introduction and keeping up with assisting him in learning how to act around other dogs. We aren't quite sure of his past but we are positive he was never socialized with dogs or even humans much! Hemi is a very sweet boy with a lot of potential and eager to please. He just needs someone who will assist him in learning how to control himself and love him for who he is! The shelter has gotten the honor to get assistance from a volunteer trainer from Salty Dogs Obedience and Adventure. One of their trainers, Shelby, volunteers her time to come work with Hemi every week. Shelby has helped Hemi come so far already in learning how to not jump, proper greetings, settling down in different situations, and so much more on top of giving him more enrichment that he needs
