Arrival story: Helga was dropped off at Animal Control in a box with her three sisters. Little information was known about these gals, but it seems they were not fed or socialized. Based on her current size and guessed breed, she should be about 20-30 pounds when full grown.
Approximate age: 11-12 weeks old
Personality: Helga is a very laid back gal. She thinks her foster mom is cool for feeding her and snuggling her, but she certainly wouldn't beg for attention. Helga would do well in a home that had another dog or some cats to play with. She doesn't show any interest in her foster home cats, but her foster mom thinks that if no one was looking, she'd be taking a nap with one of those soft, furry guys. Don't misunderstand her though, she does a "melting" thing into the chest of whoever holds her - she loves it, but still isn't sure if this human kindness thing is real. She is very sweet and will be very loyal to her forever family.
January 19th update: Socialization is going very well for Helga. She explores outside and throughout her foster home without fear. The vacuum doesn't bother her and she likes to sleep with the radio on. Housetraining is going smoothly with Helga - she knows what "outside" means and whimpers when she needs to go out. Accidents happen, but those are her foster mom's fault for not letting her out quickly enough. She is a smart pup! Helga is starting to come around for attention more, and will sit at her foster mom's feet when she wants to be picked up. She is such a sweet gal.
Forever home: Helga will need a patient home that can introduce her to all the things she has never experienced. She is eager to please and curious, and would make a wonderful companion to someone that can spend time with her.
Puppies are sweet and may catch your attention. A puppy is a huge commitment that the whole family must be ready for. They will be a perfect fit in any home that is eager for the work that comes with a puppy and has the patience for the potty training, the chewing :) and obedience training. These puppies will be ready for their homes on January 28th. If you are interested, please go to our website for an application.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at Petco in Novi (on Novi Rd south of 12 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
