My Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Hedy from our Hollywood Litter. Well, we thought they were Border Collie mixes and much to our surprise, not a single bit of BC. Instead they are GSD / Bully / Doberman / Cattle Dogs. All these fun breeds and a great start in their CA foster home, has some really nice puppies looking for homes. We weren't sure if it was gonna happen, but the GSD genes kicked in and Hedy is the only one in the litter to have her ears pop! Now she really looks like a shepherd mix. She's stunning. Hedy is currently fostered with other dogs and doing great. Her foster mom says they are pretty smart. She loves to explore with the resident dogs. They are quick learners. She was a fan of chasing chickens so we think a chicken free home would be best. Hedy thinks the cat is also fun to chase, she's responsive to corrections, so a dog savvy cat would be OK. Hedy is crate trained and housebroken. She can be a little guardy with her food, and the foster mom is working on this. It seems to be more around her crate. She's very sweet and loves a good game of fetch. She recently went to the beach and had such a good time, water dog! This pup is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated! She recently was put on pet insurance and was cleared orthopedically. She's ready for adventures. She was born in Mid November and is only about 45# at almost 8 months. She's lean, but may not make 60# when fully grown. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. This puppy is ready for its new home! Adoption fee is $375. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
