My Story

Female, 1-2 years old, 44 lbs Hazel is an incredibly sweet and affectionate pup who thrives on human companionship and cuddles. She adores belly rubs, neck scratches, and head pats, and will happily curl up next to you with her head on your lap. Despite struggling with some anxiety, Hazel quickly warms up to people she trusts, seeking out attention and affection. Her unique request for pets, where she sits down and puts her front paws up in the air, melts hearts as she eagerly awaits snuggles and scratches. Hazel's love for the outdoors is evident in her lightning-fast speed and enthusiasm for play, whether it's chasing balls or creating her own track in the yard. With impeccable obedience skills and top-notch leash manners, Hazel is not only a great running partner but also excels in mental stimulation activities like puzzles and training sessions. She in fact knows over 19 commands! Hazel's boundless affection, intelligence, and playful spirit make her a truly special companion for the right adopter. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
