My Story

Poor Hattie! She was hit by or run over by a car when she was very young. Nothing was done at the time to repair the damage to her pelvis and legs, so they healed on their own. Thinking about that is enough to bring tears to your eyes, isn’t it?

Hattie was brought into a shelter with her brother and sister when she was about 8 months old. They had her for about 4 months before C.A.R.E.S. rescued her on 4/16/05. She's definitely ready for a home!

So that makes her about 16 months old and she weighs 47#.

Hattie has had X-rays of her hips and they were looked at by a surgeon to see if there was anything to do for her. They said that nothing should be done. She is in no pain, everything has long since healed and her quality of life would not be improved by any type of surgery. So, Hattie is okay and won’t need any special care because of her accident. She will develop arthritis at the same rate as any other dog of her size. Her hips just look a little cockeyed!

Hattie is very playful and gets along with other dogs and cats and children. The retriever in her makes her always want to have something in her mouth, and the border collie in her makes her trip you up every once in a while! She is a thief! She wil steal items and run to her crate to hoard them. She’s just so cute!

Hattie is housebroken and cratetrained. Her foster home does not crate her when they aren't home and she has been fine.

Hattie has started her Obedience training. She is very smart. She sits very well for her food!

Can you give this sweet girl the home that she deserves? She has been through too much in her short life and deserves to be absolutely spoiled rotten!!
