Hatchet (Beau)

Hatchet now Beau was adopted from us as a puppy. Unfortunately, after 3 years his owner passed away leaving Beau anxious and lost. The friends of the owner that brought him to us kept him for as long as they could, but they simply could not provide the right environment for him. We were told that he does not know how to walk on a leash or use a crate. As expected, he is unsure about both of these things, but In the short time we have had him, he seems to be doing very well adjusting to his new routine. He is super treat-motivated, so that will be an important piece to him overcoming his anxiety. A suitable home for sweet Beau would be one with another dog or pet to keep him company. We have not yet tried him with a playmate, but we were told that he likes to play rough but nicely with other dogs. If not another pet for company, then someone who would be home the majority of the day to hang out with him. His bio will be updated as we learn more about him. Update 6/10: Excellent on loose-leash walk. Stays beside you. If he goes to far, the slightest tug on the leash he will come right back to your side. Off-leash potential with training and right environment. Will sleep in a crate with no potty accidents (12 hours overnight). Still nervous, but doesn't fight it when treats/food are involved. Beau doesn't play too rough at the moment. He has ran laps and wrestled with one of our female free-roam dogs who wants to be everyone's friend (with a proper introduction). No warning signs from either dog. He only runs away or cowers if he has had enough.
