My Story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to [email protected] with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 1/5/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/Harley lived the first part of his life at an Amish breeding farm Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Harley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Harley had a dental on 01/19/24 and lost 10 teeth. Weight: 60 lbs Height: 23 in est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? It is preferred for Harley. But let's talk... it depends on how much off leash exercise you can give him in a week. What kind of home would be best for me? Harley is an old soul, maybe a little reluctant to change, but isn't that a part of being an old soul? He is a big boy that experienced minimal life events in his early years. He has not let this slow him down, but it has definitely left it's mark on him. Harley prefers soft and slow interactions. He is much more confident in situations where you allow him to make decisions for himself. Sit down with him for just a little while, let him approach you and you will see a much calmer and ready to go side of him. With his caregivers Harley is a happy and affectionate boy. He will run up to them, bounding through the grass in earnest to get to them as fast as possible. Harley is always happy to greet those he loves! Give him just a little time and he will be just as happy to see you! Harley likes to take things one step at a time, and honestly he's on to something. He lives in the moment and absorbs everything that is happening around him. Maybe we all could learn a little from him. Harley does find time to relax in the midst of his vigilance. Once he has surveyed the area enough Harley will plop down at your feet and take a deep nap. Harley would love slow strolls in a quiet garden, or Sunday morning walks to the cafe for a coffee and biscuit. Harley doesn't need big adventures in his life, he would be happy sitting on the beach watching the waves. However if you insist on hunting for seashells Harley will be right there with you. Harley prefers solitude and calmer settings, for this reason we believe Harley would fair better with older and more mature families. Harley just wants to sit at home and scroll on the TV. Maybe go for a weekly Lowes trip, but the hussle and bussle of soccer games maybe just a bit too much for this laid back guy. He will play with a toy, he may even throw it around a little. With a little encouragement Harley will show you all of his different sides that he keeps hidden behind that chill guy demeanor. What is my personality like? Harley is a calm, mellow dude who's favorite thing to do is chill. The only thing he will seek out from you is love. He'll sit by your side in a state of bliss if you are petting him and loving on him. He will close his eyes and enjoy a light breeze in fall or the gentle mist of just arriving rain. Harley lives in the moment, and he enjoys simply existing. He feels no need for busy days or full schedules. Harley just loves to chill, get love from you, and watch the world go by. That's all he really wants, and if you move at a slow enough pace for him he might just beat you to the finish line. How do I act when I first meet new people? Harley is an absolute sweetheart. He will take some coercing, maybe a couple of treats too, but once Harley finds your hand on his top knot he is all there for it! There's no other way to describe Harley, the dude is just an absolute sweetheart, a very good boy. All Harley really begs for is your love and a tad of patience. We call him an old soul for a reason. When you meet him we are certain he will work his way into your heart and fill it with love. Other tips and tidbits: Harley's birth date is 1/5/2018 as estimated by our vet. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
