My Story

Hansel is an Australian Cattledog/ Red Heeler. He currently weighs around 35 lbs. Hansel was born in August 2022. He joined our rescue in November 2022. Hansel is a really sweet dog. He is extremely smart, crate-trained, and potty-trained. Hansel is currently in a foster home with other dogs and cats. His foster has worked really hard at building his confidence and working with his nervousness. He has made incredible strides and is doing much better accepting new people into his circle. He does take time to warm up and will need a lot of time to acclimate. Due to his trepidation, he will not be adopted into a home with children. He loves long walks, visiting the beach, and hiking. He does extremely well at doggie daycare and at dog parks. Hansel is not a fan of car rides or going to the vet. For his safety, as with all dogs, we recommend that he be harnessed to a seatbelt or ride in a carrier during car rides. If you are interested in adopting Hansel, please contact us. Please Read Carefully! We are a very small rescue. We are also a 100% volunteer rescue. We do require screening and verifiable references before a meet and greet and at-home visit is ever approved. Approved applicants must travel to our location in Chicago before we proceed with our in-home visit/ adoption. Due to our in-home visit requirements, we are only adopting within a set 25-mile radius or less near our location in the city of Chicago, IL. We are NOT adopting out of state due to travel and time restraints. We will ONLY consider applicants who have filled out our emailed application in full and abide by our rescue protocol. We will not arrange any meet and greets unless all references have been checked and applicants have been approved. We are not accepting or offering ANY phone inquiries. All kittens must be adopted in pairs unless there is an existing cat in the household.
