Handsome

Handsome came to us very sickly and underweight after he showed up on a local families porch looking for food and protection from the bitter cold snap we were experiencing. He is estimated to be about 6 years old as of 2/19/2024 as we have a birthdate listed for him at 1/29/2018 Handsome is no longer on meds for his condition but he is still getting a medicated bath for his skin about every 2 weeks. It seems to be helping his skin and hair growth. Handsome is a friendly fella but we have found he is a food resource guarder. That could be from being nearly starved but he is working on that and it may take time and he probably need to be fed separate from other animals or humans. We have found Handsome to be very curious and playful as he starts to feel better and better daily. He loves rope toys and balls when he is out in our play yard. He does ok on a leash but he does pull and he does need more leash training. He seems to be ok with both kids and dogs but meet & greet with any dogs is a requirement. Handsome may be pretty easy going but he is defintantly the dominant dog so if you have another dog we know he will do better with a more passive one. Handsome has been cleared to go to his forever home since he has now been neutered. He has already had his Distemper, Rabies & Bordatella Vaccines and has been heartworm tested negative. Handsome has also been ;microchipped.
