Hammy (Foster-To-Adopt)

Hammy is available for Foster to Adopt! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Hammy’s foster describes him as the silliest, happiest, and goofiest boy around! Hammy came to us from Tennessee where he was surrendered when his previous owner could no longer care for him. At only a year and a half old, he’s ready to put his past behind him and start a new adventure in Canada! Hammy is a happy-go-lucky guy who loves going for walks, playing games, and snuggling with his favourite humans. He definitely enjoys being around his people. He is a big snuggler and loves to lay his head in his human’s lap for a little snooze. Around new people at first he may react by jumping and barking. His ideal home would be an adult only home with experienced owners. Hammy would do best in a low key home with a calm atmosphere where he is the only dog-although he would do well with a resident cat. A condo would not be recommended due to potential to be in close proximity with other dogs he may react to. He would love a fenced yard to run in, but it’s not a necessity. Hammy is a medium high energy boy who will need multiple walks a day. He loves his walks so much he sometimes brings a stuffed toy with him to show off. He is currently working on his loose leash walking and is making great progress. He will pull when he sees wildlife but his fosters are working on this with him. Hammy is very food motivated and eager to please his people. He does very well with training. He knows sit, down, spin, and touch. He has been left alone all day and is given free reign of the house with no issues. Hammy is such a special boy who may take some time to warm up, but once he does, he will be your best friend for life! He has some unique requirements for his home, but if given the right set up-he will flourish! Hammy’s adoption fee is $850.
