My Story

Registered Name: Hello Hammond Call Name: Hammie Birth Date: August 4, 2018 Color: Black with White Chest Hammie came from Ireland and went to the Greyhound Advancement Center's prison training at Hardee Correctional Institution. He was then adopted, but has been returned to find a new home. His adopter travels quite a bit and Hammie is not good with travel. He rides fine in the car, but is frightened by not being at home and staying in hotel rooms. He is best suited to a home where he can fit into a routine. We also feel that he would do best with a fenced yard. He is a sweet soul, preferring a quiet home now where he can settle in. He would be perfectly happy curled up on a sofa or dog bed. ( He loves the softest spot in the house.) He is gentle and easy to handle, and quiet in the house. Hammie is good with all other dogs, both large and small, and is good around polite children. He is about 71 lbs., so is a smaller greyhound boy, and is in excellent condition. He will stand quietly for grooming, his bath and nail trims, sleeps through the night and is a sweetheart. Somewhere along the way, he had his tail amputated, probably because he had "happy tail" and broke it. He is a very sweet, gentle and friendly boy who would love a home where he would be on a daily routine and would not have to travel.. While in Ireland, Hammie was an excellent racer. In fact, he was a finalist in the English Derby! It is not often that we get greyhounds for adoption that are this good while racing, and still have wonderful, sweet and easy going temperaments. Hammie would be a great companion for the right home and family. He has no known racing injuries. Hammie's $500 adoption fee includes his transportation from Ireland to this country, his neuter, teeth cleaning, vaccines, Bordetella (to protect against kennel cough), microchip, leash and collar, and adoption guide.. Your adoption fee helps us to defray some of the transportation, veterinary and care costs we have incurred for Hammie, and will help us to continue our work on behalf of the greyhounds.
