My Story

Meet Hamilton: Your New Best Friend! Name: Hamilton (Hammy for short) Breed: Hound/Lab Mix Age: 5-6 months Gender: Male Hi, I'm Hamilton, but my friends call me Hammy! I’m a handsome 5-6 month old hound mix with big paws and a heart full of love. My sleek, soft fur makes me even more irresistible! Personality: Sweet and Loving: I adore everyone I meet, including dogs, puppies, kids, and adults. I even live with a sassy stray cat and know how to behave around her! Playful and Active: I love to play with my big foster brother and am very agile for a puppy. I can easily leap into the car and up the stairs. Smart and Trainable: I'm learning commands like sit, stay, and come. I walk well on a leash and am improving my recall skills. Potty Training: I'm 90% potty trained! Sometimes I get so excited that I forget, but I’m working on it. I can make it through the night without any accidents. Daily Routine: I enjoy two walks a day and go in and out of the yard about six times. I sleep through the night alone in the kitchen on my blanket. Special Traits: I don’t bark too much and am very smart. I love getting hugs and resting my head on your shoulder. I’m very agile and can easily leap into cars and climb stairs. What I'm Looking For: I would love a family to play with and, if you have another dog, I would be thrilled to be best friends. I need one-on-one training as I am still a puppy, but I promise I’m eager to learn and make you proud! Are you ready to give me a loving forever home? I can’t wait to meet you and show you just how amazing I am! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
