My Story

(*Please include your phone number in your email to [email protected] for a faster response! TY!) Let's talk about PERFECTION! Let me tell you about Hailee! One Sunday, we got a call from a lovely couple about a beagle on the side of the road... in dire pain, nippy at the ones trying to help her. We loaded our supplies and headed to help her. Upon arriving, it was raining heavily... we had to use a board to load her into their car. They took her to the ER vet. Her leg was broken and nothing they could do that wouldn't break the bank. I asked them to bring her to me. We medicated her until the next day and took he to our vet. After sedating her, they took numerous images of her rear leg and hip. The news was not good. Her femur was broken into 2 pieces. Both rear hips were damaged with torn tendons and ligaments. She would never walk the same again. She had been hit by a car and left to die, alone on the side of the road. She had severe swelling, so we had to take her home for 10 days on a bunch of meds. She wouldn't move an inch. The pain was so much. She would eventually potty on a pad beside her bed and fall back into her spot. The couple that found her, visited and loved on her. After resting for a week and a half, we went back to the vet. The put her under anesthesia and "set her leg" straight and casted it. (It was the cutest yellow cast with little chickens on it!) We brought her back home.. it took her about a week to trust herself to stand on it. Gradually, she would walk across the room to meet me with her food. She would lay in the dog beds with Ruby (a pup that had an amputation and healed along side her.) After six long weeks, we went back to the vet... holding our breath that the casting worked and healed her broken bone. Worst case, was another pup amputation. Luckily, she healed!! Yippie! We were so relieved! It took her a while to gain muscle back in her leg.. and a few more weeks before she could run. Hailee is a true miracle! Even though she had numerous rough days, she always had a sweet smile on her face (literally, a smile with teeth showing!) We will miss our Sweet Hailee, but it's her time to find her forever home that will showcase just how special she is. She deserves it all, and much much more!
