Gus

GUS is a 2-3-year-old, 37-lb. Kelpie/Australian Shepherd. He is the brother of Eli, Amy, and Keifer (also listed on this site), as well as Rory and Nikki who have been adopted (two separate litters). The pups were living in a barn and before that a horse trailer, when AWF took them into its care. Gus loves to go for walks, as well as running and jumping in the yard. He would love a taller fenced backyard; he’s tempted to jump the fence if it's too short. Gus is housetrained but needs to being taken out regularly so he doesn’t have an accident. Since he and his siblings were neglected and kept in a barn, the “toy” thing is all new to him; he hasn’t quite figured out exactly what he’s suppose to do with them. So instead, he’s content with being around people, just look at that smile! Gus seems to be a bit claustrophobic; he doesn’t like small spaces or being closed in. This may also be a result of how he spent his life before AWF came to the rescue. All in all Gus is doing very well in his foster home and is said to be a total “sweetheart”.
