UPDATE EMERGENCY PLACEMENT DEADLINE EXTENDED 3PM Sunday July 14, 2024 Currently in isolation being treated for a doggy cold (upper respiratory infection) Available for long term foster 30 days or longer or adoption through PACC While Gronk is being treated for his doggy cold, he will not be able to meet any other dogs until he has completed his medication on 07/11/24 and has no symptoms. Once he has been cleared from his cold, he can start meeting other dogs on 07/12/24. While he is sick, he can still meet people in one of our isolation yards. Name: Gronk aka Zipper Animal ID: A836234 Age: 2 years Weight: 41 lbs. About: Gronk, formerly known as Zipper, is a 2-year-old terrier mix who is looking for a loving home. Gronk came into the shelter as a stray on 04/10/24. He is an altered male who had a brief stay in a foster home from 05/29/24 to 06/04/24. He was then adopted, but sadly, was surrendered 10 days later after a bite to a child. Despite his rough start, Gronk has shown some wonderful qualities. Hes a total couch potato who loves his toys and enjoys car rides. He even carried a little stuffed toy in his mouth while on walks in his former home. Given time to decompress away from the shelter and get to know people, he has great potential to be the mellow, sweet, and affectionate boy many volunteers have come to know. He is housebroken and crate trained, enjoys playing in the water, and is just looking for a home that can take things at his pace. Gronk is not comfortable with overhandling but has been polite and easygoing with people who have respected his boundaries and taken things slowly: I took Zipper out for the first time today. We spent quite a bit of time out of the kennel, and he seemed happy the whole time, zero reaction to other dogs, people, even wheelbarrows from a construction project. Youd think with a former name like Zipper hed be a bundle of energy, but I have found Gronk to be the opposite. He is well mannered and loved his walk but also liked the comfort of his kennel. Youll miss out on a great, low-key doggy if you dont go to PACC to see him. In his previous home, Gronk exhibited resource guarding behaviors, particularly guarding his people. He may thrive in a low- traffic, single person home where he can just live a calm and peaceful life. Gronk also has arthritis and will require medications to help with stiffness and any discomfort for the remainder of his life. Gronk will be available to meet interested parties on 07/08/24 and needs to find placement before 3pm on Sunday, 07/14/24, either with a long-term foster for 30 days or longer or an adopter through PACC. Please consider opening your heart and home to this special boy who deserves a chance to find his forever family.
