My Story

UPDATE 2-1 & new video...scroll down the page please!

Gretel's Story....

Gretel is a super sweet female spayed 4 year old American Staffordshire Terrier breed. She has a pretty mostly white coat and one blue eye and one brown. She is very sweet, kind and friendly. Gretel has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite with her lovable sweet ways. Before she broke her leg...she loved to go for walks, hang out in the shelter's dog play yard and get lots of pets and love and pets. Her leg will heal nicely and she be walking and playing again soon!
Gretel is deaf (or mostly deaf) but this doesn't cause her much of a issue. She is housebroken however is also working hard on her crate training entering by her people pals pointing. She understands people very well by reading their body language.

Gretel is a love who is so very deserving of a Best Friend. Her best thing ever is being by her people pals side...laying by them or if she can, in their lap! Gretel is very gentle, taking treats from you hand with a gentle whisper. She would love a home where someone is at able to be her pal, play and give her lots of love. She is not fond of cats, small dogs or small animals like bunnies and will need to be placed without young kids (under 9) because of her deafness. She will be placed as an only pet because she seems to like all the attention for herself. Our Shelter Manager Tracey Weber, feels this is best for sweet Gretel.

There is a kind hearted person or older family out there for her; if you think that may be you...please come and meet her. Gretel will reward you with tons of love, kisses and companionship.

UPDATE 2-1:

Gretel has broken her leg. She is normally a calm dog, but when she is back in the dog kennels with all the other dogs and such, Gretel gets quit stressed. She was jumping and came down a certain way and poor Gretel's leg broke.
Thank goodness for the Pink Lady Emergency Vet Care Fund.

Gretel is now set up in the empty cat room at the shelter with lots of blankets, pillows and her food and water. She is liking this much better plus she has to remain calm for her leg to heal.

We really need to find this wonderful girl a home or an appropriate foster home.

Gretel is one of the most wonderful, intelligent, loving dogs you'll ever meet. Being deaf doesn't seem to bother her; she is smart and can learn fast. She deserves to have a life blessed with good health, lots of love and a person or family who adores her as much as she will adore them.

Gretel is being sponsored by a wonderful family! Sandra, Shane, Katherine, Kaylee & Cameron Place have given a donation for Gretel's adoption fee through our 'Shelter Pet Sponsorship Program'. Gretel can now be offered at our Special Adoption Rate of $30. She's ready to give all her love and kisses to a new person or family! Call our shelter to find out more about Gretel; she is a shelter manager approval adoption.

VOLUNTEERS...we need folks to come and sit with Gretel so she doesn't have to wear her cone! Bring a book or magazine and just sit and pet her...she loves that!
