My Story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800 Gopher is a 3 year old Miniature Schnauzer mix who is popping up to see his shadow, promising him a forever home soon! Gopher was rescued from the shelter along with a few of his furry friends. We have no clue how someone could have ever left this handsome dude behind, but we promised him the best second chance ever! Gopher's fabulous ears popped right up at that and away we went on his shelter break ride! Since Gopher is a mix, he is not going to be an option for those with true allergies. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss their plans for coat maintenance. Ready for six weeks (and then a lifetime) of companionship? Adopt Gopher! Gopher is the most loving and affectionate dog we have ever met! He adores his people, and like any good Schnauzer, thinks you are the absolute best thing since the invention of treats. However, Gopher is also happy to keep himself occupied as you work, ensuring his yard is kept free of squirrels and other critters. Gopher is extremely affectionate and will politely place a paw on your arm so you can scratch his soft belly. Gopher loves to cuddle and would be thrilled to find a new person who wants to let him stretch out in your (his) bed. Gopher loves his walks and would be an amazing adventure companion. Just strap on his backpack and he's ready to hit the trails. Gopher has absolutely fabulous ears that perk up like little meerkats when he is excited. It makes him even more irresistible than his already cute face is! Gopher would love to be the center of your world and he promises he will be the most loyal best friend. If you bring him home, prepare for a lifetime of cuddles and kisses, as well as adorable selfies! Gopher greets the day at 8 AM ready to make it the best one yet! He heads right out on his first walk of the day for potty time before he trots back inside. He enjoys his breakfast and then settles in for some cuddles on the couch. During the day, Gopher spends some time in the yard, making sure all the squirrels are behaving themselves. He loves the shaded outdoor bench and he will take a long afternoon siesta in the summer air. He also spends some time on the indoor recliner, where he shares his seat with the resident cat. In the evening, Gopher heads out on another walk and then gets his dinner around 6. In the evening, he gets some more cuddles on the couch as well as some playtime. At 10 PM, he goes out for one last potty trip before he settles into a dog bed for the night. Gopher co-exists with his resident canine pal but he isn't the most dog playful dog. He would ideally prefer to live life as a solo dog or as a sibling to a less playful pup. He tolerates the cat. Gopher walks well on a leash and enjoys his outdoor time. He is house trained. Gopher can't wait to find his people who will spoil him and adore him. He hopes that home is yours! Gopher is only an option for homes with previous dog experience, ideally those with experience with continued dog socialization. Kids in the home should be over the age of 12.
