Goofy Gus

Goofy Gus is a one year old (D.O.B. August 25, 2007), Border Collie mix who weighs 48 pounds. Goofy Gus was found in April crammed into a very small crate, sitting on the sidewalk. It was apparent that he had not been allowed to leave that create in a long time because he was lying in three inches of feces and urine. Because Goofy Gus had been in the crate for so long, he had no muscle tone in his back legs and he used his back legs like one (together, not spread). The person who rescued him needed to prop him up to support him so that he could stand. It took nearly three months for Goofy Gus to develop good muscle tone and for him to be able to get along like a “normal dog.” Goofy Gus was given his name because of his rather goofy tri-pod like appearance when he was rescued. The name Gus was added because it means “worthy of respect.” Goofy Gus is definitely worthy of respect; he proves that even when some people were at their worst, Gus could “rise above” and not hold it against humans for what was done to him in his past. Gus is sweet, easy-going, gentle and friendly. He gets along great with other dogs. This happy boy seems to enjoy each day that is given to him and is very non-demanding.
