Gir is
supposed to be a Purebred Toy
Australian Shepherd. However, a fellow dog-rescue person
we know who specializes in the small breeds feels he is actually a
Pomeranian/Toy-Aussie cross.
Regardless, he is a beautiful ball of fluff with
solid blue eyes and weighs only 9-1/2 lbs... Sometimes we call him
Frankie in honor of "Old Blue
Eyes". He doesn't have a tail to wag ... so when he's happy, he
twirls his whole body.
His favorite daytime activity is to ride along when we go out in the
car. He curls up quietly and just enjoys being on the road. Once we
arrive where we're going, Gir will wait quietly, or walk well on a
leash if invited to accompany us. Allowed off leash, he runs in happy
circles, but stays close.
At night, his very best thing is to come up onto your bed for some
loving before he curls up quietly in his own bed. With his soft coat he
is pure pleasure to cuddle, but he's not a needy dog. He is quite
content just to be near you.
Gir is a shy dog. We're pretty
sure he's been abused in the past, so
his new owner will need to allow time to win his trust. And while he
enjoys going out and about with his own people, he is not one to accept
overtures from strangers. He is especially afraid of men, and we would
like to see him become a woman's companion - although he will agree to
share her with a kind and patient man. He loves children, if they are
gentle, and will enjoy cuddling with them once he knows them. He gets
on well with dogs, ignores cats and chickens, and tries to herd cattle
and horses.
Like all Mikey's Chance dogs, he comes to you already neutered,
microchipped and up-to-date on all shots and vaccinations. He is
potty trained and crate trained, and his adoption fee is $225.
