My Story
Gidget is available for adoption ?
Age: 4-6 months
Weight: 42 lbs approx
Breed: Bully mix
Is your foster dog sterilized: Not yet, scheduled for May 22
Is your foster dog vaccinated: She has 2 DHPP vaccines, and will receive her rabies vaccine with her spay.
Is your dog good with other dogs: Yes, very friendly but tends to jump and does not know how big she is / how she is perceived. Continued training needed.
Is your dog good with cats: Untested
Foster Location: Uplands, Ottawa
Is your dog good with kids: Yes, we don’t have kids ourselves but she is good with kids and humans that are neighbors. Again, she doesn’t control her jumping yet, so she could potentially knock a kid on their bum if she isn’t restrained. But is not aggressive at all.
Current size: Medium
Estimated adult size: Medium
Is your dog house trained: yes but needs consistent outings throughout the day to avoid any accidents. She tends to go in the morning, midday, afternoon, and night.
Is your dog crate trained: Yes but whines a bit at first. She is gradually getting more accustomed to let the crate be her safe space.
Does your dog have any special needs or medical conditions? N/A
Does your dog have any or display any aggression (toys, food, people, leash reactivity): None at all.
Is your dog playful: Super playful! She is a puppy and requires exercise daily. She loves to play with toys, chew toys, and run outside / and walks frequently.
Describe the dogs energy level: High. She requires at least 1 long walk or good run a day.
Does your dog like to snuggle: She does. She gets close to our legs and naps.
Does your dog know basic commands: She knows how to sit. We give her treats and she sits before she is allowed to grab her food.
Does your dog know any special tricks: Not yet.
Describe the dogs level of training: Basic.
Does your dog like to go on walks: LOVES walks. She is still pulling a bit, we got her a harness to mitigate the level – but needs training to get to lose leash walking. She is also a lot better after she’s tired from a run outside.
Does your dog have any fears: She fears broomsticks, loud noises like the vacuum, and sometimes unknown inanimate objects (ex: she got scared when we walked by the mailbox and scared herself lol).
Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: she doesn’t know how big she is and how to use the stairs much (she trips on the way up and down hehe). She also has the biggest puppy eyes; she is very sweet. She has a white spot on her chest.
What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: energetic, loving, goofy.
Provide a description of your foster dog and the ideal home for them: Gidget requires a home with a lot of love and dedication to her. She is very smart but requires guidance and patience. She can learn lots of things so long as someone is willing to teach her. She loves to spend time outside and inside. She needs a home with a mild-medium experienced dog owner that will teach her more tricks, more routine, and more of how to be a dog. She requires a family or an owner that is active and willing to walk her every day. She is very playful, so she needs lots of toys and time to play with her in the evenings. She also loves a good ear and belly scratch and lots and lots of love. She had a skeptical relationship with the male in our family, but she is now the fondest of him. She loves a male presence that will give her love and make her feel secure. She is perfectly content with females.
