This is Gia who is a 5 year old, female Shih Tzu, Terrier, Yorkie mix who is about 17lbs. Please note that Gia is NOT hypoallergenic, in fact she is mostly Terrier. Gia came to us from an owner who surrendered her with her puppies (all have been adopted) when he got overwhelmed with dogs from backyard breeding. We need to be very specific with whoever adopts Gia, as she will need a very particular home. This little lady loves to talk (bark), in fact, in rescue we call her a "bark talker." She has a very high pitched bark and although she isn't barking 24/7, when she does bark, which she seems to do when you prep her food, she gets excited, or even at noises during the night....it can be a bit much to some people. This is why we CANNOT place her in an apartment, condo/townhome, or even a quiet residential area. She needs owners that can use positive correction to get her to quiet down. She CANNOT be crated. Gia must have another dog in the home that is sweet and kind. She CANNOT be an "only" dog. She would love a yard to sunbathe in, but please note that she does take time to get used to a new environment to go potty. She can't be expected to get it right away. Gia is good with kids and adults, but not with cats. She LOVES attention...just loves it! She loves to be groomed, brushed, touched, etc. In fact, she will bark if you stop to get you to do more! She is a good eater and we want her in a home that will incorporate some home cooking with her high grade kibble. Gia does get seasonal allergies (the Shih Tzu in her) and requires a Cytopoint shot (for allergies/itching) every 4 months or so and she will need grooming every 8 weeks. She is still getting the hang of walking on leash and will need practice. We do not want her in a home where she is left along long hours. She has some anxiety and would do best with owners that work from home. Gia was not treated right in her former home, so we are looking for owners that will be patient, kind, and loving with her. She really deserves it.
Please note that we will require 2-3 meet/greets before/if we decide to go the next step in the process and since she is in Torrance, potential adopters in or close to that area would be much easier for both parties.
Gia is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed
WE ONLY ADOPT IN LOS ANGELES AND SURROUNDING AREAS AS AN IN PERSON HOME CHECK AND TRIAL PERIOD ARE REQUIRED.
