My Story

Ghost Buster ACCT-A-169778 is a 4-year-old male who came in as a stray on 7/23. According to the finder, Ghost Buster was "friendly around strangers, aggressive around other animals. walked okay on leash. He was easy to remove from his kennel, and was fine passing the other kennels, but kept his nose to the ground looking for food - poor pup is very skinny. He did some affectionate jumping, but he's so little it's no issue. He walked nicely on the leash, with minimal pulling. He looks like a fawn, so thin, short and similar tan coloring. He did fine in his meet - well-behaved when meeting the other dog, Luna Bell, but wasn't ready for her play style. He might need a calmer dog. Afterwards, he was easy to return to his kennel. Behavior Evaluation 7/24: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Ghost Buster was full body wiggling in his crate. He did very cute excited toe taps while waiting for the door to open. WHen the handler opened the door he nose at the crack lightly but was easy to leash. He came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately but is lightweight and small so easy to control. He said hi to multiple staff members as he walked through the building. HANDLING: Ghost Buster was friendly and social right away. He jumped his whole body into my lap and gave me face kisses. He allowed all over handling and even hugs! He was loose and wiggly and enjoyed some play and toys. He was good at fetch and allowed the toy to be taken right from his mouth! He showed us he knows "sit and was a little snatchy but didn't actually get my fingers. We tested resource guardian since he's so skinny, and unfortunately he did show signs of resource guarding. We gave him wet food and when the other handler got close he began growling and baring teeth. I was able to pull him away, and once the food was off the floor and not accessible, he returned to his wiggling, loose self. PLAY:Engages in play TOYS:Interested in toys, liked to chase tennis balls. He let us take tennis balls right from his mouth! Medical Notes: Per staff on 7/23 during an intake exam: Ghost Buster had a body condition score of 3 but was otherwise in good general health. Staff noted him to be bright, alert and responsive.
