Gertrude MMal

Gertrude is a wonderful, soulful companion who loves messy kisses and long walks. She is a beautiful, young (1-2 year old ), 42 lb. mixed breed with silky soft chocolate brown fur so dark she looks black in the sunlight and lovely white markings. She is incredibly affectionate with people she trusts though she can be a little shy at the start. She seems to prefer women. Gertrude loves her best friend Alice (with whom she was found) but does not trust other dogs yet. She is not recommended for a home with cats. Gertrude has been the recipient of a 5 week training program at the prestigious Lara's Canine Solutions in Wimberley ($3200 value). She knows her commands including sit, down, stay and come, and is a smart girl eager to learn more. She is also leash-trained, house-trained and crate-trained. Gertrude was found with her BFF Alice as a stray in the middle of a parking lot, starving, filthy and terrified. Over the past four months, she has made enormous strides. She has not only undergone an intensive training program, she has been treated for heartworm, spayed and is ready to find her forever home. Due to circumstances beyond their control, Gertrude and Alice currently live in an office environment where they love nothing more than to lie near their foster's feet (Gertrude loves that space heater) all day long. Although they are young, they are both relatively low energy dogs, grateful to have a safe place to crash off the streets, and happy to just hang out all day. They survived on the street together and would love to stay together in an adoptive home but can be adopted separately.
