George

George is a vintage hound and he is just about the sweetest little guy ever. He loves to sit in bed with his humans and snuggle. He also loves to eat, get ear rubs, and take leisurely strolls in the yard, sniffing all the green grass. George is somewhere north of 12, by our estimates. He came into BRBR last winter, just before Christmas, and he was almost dead from starvation and heartworms. Someone had taken him to a dog pound to die, after having him for all those years. It was the final betrayal, to abandon the poor old guy when he needed his people the most. BRBR pulled George out of there and slowly nursed him back to health. With some love from his foster family he rallied back from death and put on enough weight to have as fighting chance at life. He got his heartworms treated. Then he got his poor, neglected teeth cleaned and tended. Poor ol' George had to have 9 teeth pulled, and the ones remaining were full of infection and food and other unspeakable, health-crushing crud. He is now a hound reborn. He does a happy dog dance when his foster mom comes home at night and he loves loves loves snuggling with his humans in the people bed. He's a little frightened of other dogs, because they are so much bigger and stronger than him. But he adores kids, men and women. George is always hopeful the next person he meets will be kind to him. His heart is wide open and expecting nothing but goodness.
