MEET Gayle-
Gayle, a gorgeous standard Dachshund mix just over 2 years old, sports a warm tan coat with charming patches of white on her chest and paws, giving her an irresistible and photogenic look. At a perfect weight of 17 lbs she's neither too small nor too big, ideal for both apartment living and homes with larger yards. She’s good with other dogs and kids, but hasn’t been around cats. Gayle‘s beautiful appearance is matched by an equally dazzling personality, making her the perfect addition to any household. This sprightly girl brings an abundance of sociable and affectionate vibes wherever she goes. Always eager for a hug, she knows just how to melt hearts and spread joy with her loving demeanor. Gayle‘s happiness doubles when she can engage in playful antics, showing off her lively, medium-energy spirit that makes every moment with her memorable and full of life. Not only does Gayle love to play and cuddle, but she's also a pro when it comes to walks on the leash. Her independence shines through during these outings; she’s confident and curious, always ready to explore new sights and sniff exciting new smells. However, she’ll always stay close to your side, showing off her excellent leash manners and her desire to please her human companions. If you're in search of a devoted and playful companion, Gayle could be the perfect match for you. She’s looking for a forever home where her affectionate nature and zest for life will be cherished. Whether snuggling on the sofa, enjoying a leisurely stroll, or playing fetch in the yard, Gayle promises to be a faithful and delightful partner. Bring Gayle home and watch her brighten your days with endless love and dachshund charm!
Gayle will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Gayle is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, Gayle needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give Gayle a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to:
[email protected]. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
