Galahad

Meet Galahad, a happy and loving 90lb, male, American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He was born around mid-2019 and rescued in April 2021. Galahad is house trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. He enjoys going on short walks and car rides. However, he may struggle to get in and out of a taller vehicle on his own. Galahad knows how to sit and is very treat motivated. This boy can definitely learn new tricks with some patience and understanding. Galahad is very picky about his dog friends. He can be reactive around high energy dogs. Medium sized, more mature dogs, who will not nip, especially at his ears, are preferred. He gets along with the resident dogs, but he is selectively reactive. Any dogs should be slowly introduced. His best friend is a 60lb young male German Shepherd and a 40lb mature female Chow mix. Large (his size) square build dogs intimidate him and he does not get along with small (less than 25lb, Chihuahua/Terrier sized) dogs. He is not good with cats and should not be around any small pets. Galahad does not live with any children currently. Only older children who are not as rambunctious and will not grab or pull Galahad’s ears, tail, or paws are recommended. He has had a hard life and can be easily startled. Galahad does have hypothyroidism and is on thyroid medication. He will remain on it for the rest of his life. He also has hip dysplasia and some arthritis so he does take joint supplements. Galahad also lacks many teeth. Fortunately, he has plenty of molars and he eats kibble perfectly fine. Galahad is a medium energy dog. He is very much a couch potato. I think his favorite activity is sleeping but he does enjoy a stroll around the yard and playing with his toys. Every now and then he will get a little hoppy and excited. Galahad is both a gentle giant and a bull in a China shop at the same time. He is a cuddle bug but doesn’t always realize how big he is.
