My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Frannie, 3yr old, spayed female German Shepherd Dog, 65 pounds. Frannie is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Frannie would be an easy introduction to working dogs/shepherds, even if her furever home doesn't have breed experience. She can be shy at first when meeting other dogs but warms up quickly, playing well and matching energy nicely. She's overall calm and polite, and is herself a moderate energy gal. She can play hard with her Aussie foster sibling, ignore in-your-face Frenchies, and allow her Shiba friend to withdraw from playing all with ease. Most especially, she knows when to stop once cued by other dogs or her people. Frannie prefers slower introductions, generally just needing a day or two to decide if she likes the other dog or not. She was best buds from day 1 with the Aussie, took a couple days to tolerate the Frenchies, and a few more days for her to acclimate to the Shiba. When meeting other dogs during a walk, Frannie will stop and stare with a wagging tail but keeps going when instructed. She displays no adverse behavior. Frannie is kid friendly and may be cat friendly, although she should be supervised. She lives in a foster home with a cat and likes to sniff at and give kisses if allowed, but will chase if in a small space. Frannie doesn't live in a home with kids but has been introduced to the neighbor's children (5-10yrs) and did fine. She does flinch with sudden movements, so she may prefer a home with older kids. In general, we always recommend homes with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues. She does well on leash, likes to walk in front of you and pull slightly, but it's all very manageable. Frannie is fully house broken and can stay in a crate forever if you ask her to. She's been crated for up to 8hrs without incident and is crated when her foster is not home, since she does have mild separation anxiety (or boredom) and likes to chew wayward shoes. Now that she has settled into her routine and knows the limits of her freedom, she is allowed to free roam the house, again without issue. She has not displayed any food aggression or resource guarding, and doesn't seem interested in toys enough to not share. Frannie's foster mom describes her as curious, reserved and loyal, cuddly and affectionate. She is cautious when meeting new people but loves to give kisses and lick her favorite human. Frannie would appreciate a low - to moderately-active home with walks and the occasional play date or activity, and a canine or feline sibling for curling up while resting. Her ideal home would be patient and gentle, as she can be shy and skittish until she learns to trust you. Rest assured, once you've earned her trust, she will be the best companion to your family. <3 ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
