My Story

I know that when you first look at Frankie it can be a little shocking. He's pretty much all bald. He has a few wisps of hair. There are a few possible reasons for that: Either he's a blue chihuahua with Color Dilute Alopecia - a genetic condition that causes the dogs to lose all of their hair, he could be part Chinese Crested since he has a bit of hair on the top of his head and a few wisps on his legs, he could be part Xoloitzcuintle (show-low-its-kwent-lee) also known as Mexican Hairless. It's a toss up, really and a moot point anyway. He's wonderful. For nearly two weeks, Frankie was left behind in a house when the people moved out. When we got him, he was weak and thin with weeping sores on his skin. He could barely stand. After a few weeks of tender, loving care, Frankie has made a wonderful recovery. He's very sweet, house trained and a happy boy. We think that he is about 7 or 8 years old and he weighs 7 pounds. Because of his size, he needs to go to a home without small children. Because of his baldness, we keep a shirt or sweater on him at all times at this time of year. I change his shirt every day and give him a nice rub down with some lotion to keep his skin soft and supple. In the summer, he'll need a sunscreen to go outside for any length of time. Frankie has recently had a dental and lost 4 teeth - including the two lower tusk-like teeth you may see in the pictures. He doesn't have many teeth left but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. He eats kibble and cookies without a problem. This is a very nice boy who may not look like a typical dog but everyone who has encountered him here thinks that he's wonderful. The adoption fee for Frankie is $150. All of our dogs are up to date on all shots, including rabies, spayed or neutered, microchipped, fecal tested for internal parasites, treated if necessary, tested for heartworm, treated if necessary, on heartworm preventative and we also take care of dentals or any other medical needs they may have.
