We are a pure-bred English Bulldog rescue located in the state of Illinois but serving the Midwest. To determine if you qualify to adopt one of our adorable bullies view our
Adoption Criteria and Adoption Area Map.
We serve Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Southeastern Wisconsin including Milwaukee and now will accept intakes from Ohio and Missouri. Our adoption radius expansion to Ohio will be coming soon!
CEBR’s Directors and core volunteers are members of the Bulldog Club of America and the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. What that means for adopters, surrendering families and shelters is that our bullies get the highest level of care and commitment. They spend their time with us in foster homes where they get daily love and attention.
We are an Illinois licensed shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English bulldogs includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care around (from a bulldog specialist!), and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality. Each of our rescued bullies typically costs CEBR more in care than the adoption fees we collect – on average $536 per bully. Your contributions to help care for our bullies would be so appreciated.

BEAUTIFUL BULLY BOY WITH A SAD, NEGLECTED BACKGROUND JUST WANTS GENTLE LOVE. (Become a fan of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue on Facebook to read more!)
Hi! My name is Fletch and I am the sweetest boy you will ever meet. I am a 4.5 year old bully and have a pep in my step that makes me way more fun than those young pups, but with more control and manners. I was found as a stray by Animal Care and Control and thankfully the Chicago Bulldog Rescue took me in. Early on I was very sick and just skin and bones. I was about 20 pounds underweight and malnourished. I was immediately hospitalized for pneumonia and had to stay at the ER vet to receive IVs and round-the-clock care. But through the love and care of my new found people, I have become a great eater and am a model of good health. I was neutered, have all of my vaccines, and come with a microchip and the transfer.
I have beautiful dark brown and white markings and when I fill out I will probably weigh about 60 lbs. I have a great coat with no allergies to speak of and the most adorable underbite. I mean who doesn’t want one of those?? I must have had a family at some point in the past since I am fully house and crate trained and know a few commands. I will do anything for a treat so my new family could have a lot of fun teaching me new tricks.
My foster mom says I have the biggest brown eyes and I love to sit with my head on her knee. Originally, I was not allowed on the couch but I have been so good that my foster family couldn’t resist having me sit with them and watch TV. At first I was very unsure of all my new people, but I have made amazing progress and am starting to really live life. I get along with all people and dogs and currently am living in the city and getting used to all the noises. I am a super walker and love checking out the neighborhood to see what’s going on. When I get tired, I fall asleep so soundly that my tongue hangs out of my mouth and I even snore a little. Oops! Lastly, I am a big klutz and sometimes I just trip or fall when I am sleepy.
I honestly am a very well behaved guest with my foster family. I only bark when I think they need to be protected and I listen very well when I am told “NO”! I do like to grab things and run to get your attention, but hey, I am a dog and I tend to chew up stuffed toys so please watch out! My personality is coming out more and more every day… I can’t wait to share it with you!
My perfect forever home is pretty simple. I like dogs, cats and kids. I am currently living in the city so I think I could be happy either there or in the ‘burbs. I need a couple walks a day and a lot of love so I can feel safe and happy for the rest of my life.
It’s time for me to go hang out with my foster family now. I am patiently waiting for my forever home, so please don’t forget me!
Love,
Fletch
