My Story

Finch is an approximately 3 year old tri smoothie. He is 11 inches at the shoulder and weighs a solid 25 pounds. Finch came from an extensive hoarding group in the Sierra foothills. There was a purebred JRT dad on site and probably a Jack/Dachshund/Chihuahua cross mother. Finch is 100% crate trained and 99% house-safe. He walks well on leash and loves to hike. Not a runner, more a sniffer. He gets along very well with other dogs . Finch's foster mum writes: Finch has made great strides in his foster home but is still somewhat feral. He did not grow up being handled by humans and still has a lot of fear to work through. He needs a person who is experienced with shy, fearful dogs and is patient about winning Finch's trust. We are requiring he go to a home with at least one other easygoing dog. Being able to watch another dog interact with humans helps him build his confidence. No small children because he still struggles with noises and sudden movements. Secure solid fencing a must. Finch is is in foster care in Ephrata, Washington, but a meet anywhere in the Pacific Northwest with a committed adopter can be arranged. This boy has never offered a growl or a snarl or a snap to anyone - even when utterly terrified (think vet clinic). There is a very good dog under that watchful exterior. The adoption fee is $200. but it absolutely has to be the right person.
