Ester was rescued from the Anderson County Shelter after having been turned in by her owner on Valentine's Day!
One of our volunteers found Esther afraid and alone and saw she was pregnant. Even in the shelter conditions, Esther's beauty shown through. (She was named Esther, because her beauty saved her!).
Esther had spent her last night afraid and alone. She would not have her babies without being warm, safe and loved!
Beautiful, shy, sweet Esther was so pregnant that she was taken from the shelter to one of our local animal hospitals to evaluate her pregnancy. We were told that, by X-Ray, Esther has 8 or 9 puppies....That was a week ago. During this past week, Esther has grown very close to her foster mom, learning to trust that she is now safe and loved. Esther's babies are due Anytime.
Esther will stay at a "heel" position when outside with her mom and will only venture off about 10 feet to go "potty" the right back to mom's left side. Esther is the finest dog her mom has seen in a long time.
UPDATE: 3/1/06
Esther gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies during the night! There are 5 Boys and 4 Girls. Her labor was difficult a couple of times, however all babies are doing just fine. We will keep you posted on their progress. These puppies will be named for some of the American Winter Olympic athletes. Esther watched the Olympics with us, so it seemed only fitting to name these puppies in honor of men and women who represented America at the Winter Olympics!
Esther will only be adopted as an inside family member to a family who has experience with and loves the German Shepherd.
Adoption Fee for Esther: $200.00
