My Story

Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Thank you for understanding we want only the best for the dogs you give a forever home. Ericka is a black houndy girl. She is about 5 months old according to the vet, and weighs about 30 pounds. She and another girl who is a bit older were left behind when their homeless owner left them to fend for themselves. They were left on their own and were already in poor physical condition. They are in much better condition now. Ericka climbs a fence and gets out of a four-foot fence. Right now the pups are safe in a garage with no heat but they have bedding and food and water. At least out of the wind and rain. Please help one, or both, of these very sweet girls. Email [email protected]
