My Story

Enzo is a 10-year-old, 8 pound female mix from the NYCACC. She will smother you (or anything in sight) with all of her love. During her time with her foster family, she has been working on building her confidence. She is slow to warm up to new people and experiences but once she realizes she is safe - she won't let you leave her sight! Her foster dog has bravely introduced her to new fruits and treats which she now enjoys with gusto. She loves being with her people but also has not displayed separation anxiety. As long as she has a cozy spot to curl up into, she's happy to snooze and await your return. The minute she hears you at the door, she welcomes you home with a happy dance. Enzo is looking for a low key family in her elder years. She appreciates downtime and short, relaxed paced walks around the neighborhood. She would do well solo or with other dogs and although she doesn't have any feline foster siblings, we think she would be fine with them as well. Given her delicate frame, we would recommend she go to a home with older children. Enzo was born with a diaphragmatic hernia meaning that there is a hole in her diaphragm which caused her organs to shift into an unnatural position. Because of this, she has decreased lung function and should not over exert herself (strenuous activity, high temperatures, high stress, etc). She will live a long and happy life, as her body has adapted to her condition since birth, but will need a family that is willing to avoid strenuous exercise for her or will carry her in a bag whenever intense activity is needed. Due to her hernia, she is not able to be spayed so is only adoptable to a home with altered animals. She has had 2 mammary masses removed and is not an ideal candidate for anesthesia (due to her lung function) so adopters will need to be conscious of this and collaborate with their vet on a preventative plan to avoid unnecessary anesthesia. If you have specific questions on her medial history, our adoptions team can chat with you after we receive a completed application. Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Enzo, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: [email protected]
