My Story

This is not a complete list of all the animals available for adoption through the Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL).  Many of our dogs can be seen at the PetSmart at White Oak Shopping Center (next to BJ's), in Garner (I-40 & Hwy 70) from noon to 4:00 p.m. every Saturday.  Cats are available and can be seen at the same location all hours the store is open and Adoption Coordinators are there on Saturday mornings.  Cats can also be seen at the Petsmart at Timber Drive, and on a rotating basis at the PetSmart on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh.

Elton is aprox 4 months old and already weighing in at a hefty  whopping 30# (first week of Sept).  He is a solid and loving pup.  It's possible that Elton is some type of shepard but definately aside from that breed he is showing his foster family each day that he's a dreamboat of a dog in all aspects.

His demeanor is very laid back for a pup which is a good thing since he will be growing into a big fella.   He is a quiet guy in the overall in his methods of vocal and physical actions.   He does enjoy playing and being rambunctious but seems to know that the 'full out crazy run' playtime is for outside play.    Inside playtime consists of tossing toys in the air by himself & rolling around while holding them in his mouth.  He's very self entertaining although he does enjoy playing and hanging out with other dogs and people.

Elton does great on leash walking already.   His potty training is coming along great as well - no crate accidents with a minimal amount of house accidents.  When outside, he definitely knows its business time before playing.  He does not like crates very well so is still working on the part of his willingness to go into crate.   Once he's in crate he is very quiet and settled with toys to keep him occupied.   He does get curious and sometimes has that 'Should I ?' look on his face as he explores new things through out the house (ie.. 'should I ?' take this shoe, chew on this thing from the couch, etc).  He listens very well & adheres to calm & firm voice reprimand.    Elton also lives with a cat who he loves to try to play with but does not chase her down or act aggressive in any way.

Elton's neuter is pending but is part of the adoption fee along with his rabies, microchip, heartworm & flea/tick preventative given monthly while in foster care.
