Elsie was found by a Collierville family that actually took her in for a couple of weeks while trying to find her owner. During that time, they were able to see that she is a very smart little dog. She loved to play with the kids, as well as the other dogs in the neighborhood. She is housebroken, knows basic obedience commands, and she even learned very quickly what the rules of her "new-but-temporary" home were. The family actually really enjoyed having her around those two weeks. Unfortunately, they really do not want a dog right now. So when Elsie's original owner could not be located, they had to bring her up to the shelter.
It's a big responsibility to have a dog as a pet! This type of dog can live more than 15 years! That is a long time when you think about all the times you have to stop and "take care of the dog." There are the monthly and annual expenses for food and general health. There are the arrangements that have to be made whenever the family goes somewhere the dog can't go. There are the hours of necessary exercise, training, and providing for the dog. Terriers are very demanding little dogs! They require more time and attention than many other dogs. Any potential owner must consider akk if this before taking such a dog home. However demanding Elsie will/can be, she will give much in return!
Are you ready to take such a step? Do you want to give Elsie a new home, a new family to live with and love unconditionally, all the rest of her days? She is a real sweetheart, and the family that decides to take Elsie home will, indeed, be a blessed family! Maybe that's your family!
