Hi I'm Elmo, and my journey is a mix of hope and heartache, which is sadly common for black dogs like me who often get overlooked in shelters. I was surrendered back to Big Dog Ranch Rescue by an owner who could no longer care for me, even though I was born here at BDRR. While my siblings have all found their forever homes, I'm still searching for mine. I'm an incredibly sweet and happy boy, overflowing with love and a penchant for giving big, warm hugs. Although I had one adoption that didn't work out because I played a bit too vigorously, I'm ready to find a family that can match my energy. I am not the best fit for small animals like cats or smaller and older dogs due to my chasing instinct, but I thrive with friends my size, especially sporty, energetic older kids who can keep up with my zest for life. I do need a proper introduction to other dogs, but I get along great with my roommates. If you're looking for a loyal companion to join you on daily walks, hikes, or other adventures, I'm your guy!
