My Story

Ellie's mother was not spayed and got pregnant. The owner's of the mother dog could not afford all the puppies and kept them outside. These poor pups were living in below zero weather and not even being fed. Waverly Pet Rescue has now taken the puppies in and they are in volunteer homes. (We tried VERY HARD to convince the owners to surrender us the mother dog too, but they would not. Let's all say a prayer that they get her spayed soon before she gets pregnant again) The puppies have now been to a vet and have their first shots and have been dewormed.

Ellie is a long haired puffy black girl. She was born September 18, 2008 so is almost 4-months old. She weighs 29.7 lbs right now. She loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. She has not been housetrained but is working on crate training and then housetraining in her volunteer home. She will need continued training in her adoptive home. Will update this more as we get to know her. Ellie has a bump on her stomach that is an umbilical cord hernia and the vet said if it isn't gone by the time she's old enough to get spayed,a stitch can be put where the hole is and that will take care of it.

All the puppies are happy, love attention, they like to play, and eat! =) IF looks could kill we all would be dead, because these puppies are so adorable and just love to watch you with everything you do! Like I said they love human affection and attention and will make wonderful dogs when they grow up. They've had to fend for themselves food wise for awhile so they like to overeat and eat quickly. Once they have been in their volunteer homes or adoptive home for awhile, they will quickly learn that there's plenty of food in this world for them.

1/20/09 UPDATE: She is doing great!! We got her last night. She's only ever been in a house for a few days, but we've had no accidents in the house or the crate so far (she's held it for as long as 4-1/2 hours). She seems to understand what she are supposed to do when we go outside. She crated over night and this morning for a little bit with no problems at all and only whined once after I brought her back in after his 2am trip outside. I can't believe how well behaved she is! And very calm for a puppy. She's done great with all the new things that she's being introduced to. She's done awesome with the kids - tried to say "hi" to the cats and then left them completely alone when the cats didn't want to say hi back. She will be big kids, she is large already! She is used to fighting for food, but only with her siblings. She's had no problems at all with people and food. She is VERY smart. She is already starting to pick up "sit" for treats. After some training, Ellie is going to make AWESOME family pet!

Ellie has a brother named Chance listed on here if anyone is interested in adopting 2 puppies!

The adopter must spay Ellie when she is old enough and proof is required.

Please be ready for the challenges of a puppy before adopting one....this little girl comes with a ton of love, but puppies are also a lot of work. Please have the time and commitment for a puppy before adoption.

Will someone please adopt Ellie and give her a forever home? $125.00 adoption fee . ($50 is a spay deposit you will get returned once we get the proof of her spay, so the adoption fee is actually only $75)

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first. If you have questions or want to request an application, please send an email to the email address listed. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues.
