My Story
This animal is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is spread via a mosquito bite between animals, BUT animals on heartworm prevention are not contagious. This animal has started the pre-treatment for heartworm disease and will need to be fostered until the completion of treatment. For foster program eligibility: you must live within 35 miles direct route from our facility, have a valid form of identification and proof of rabies vaccination for other dog, cats or ferrets of household. Animals with heartworm disease need to have their activity restricted to avoid possible complications of the treatment. If you have any question regarding this animal please call 352-689-4400.
