Hi there. My name is Duncan. I am a male Daschund born approximately 11/04. I am up to date on shots, neutered and heartworm negative. I had a home before, but my owners did not know how to care for a dog. They mistreated me before ultimately deciding to abandon me at the local animal shelter. I was very scared at the shelter. Because I haven’t known much love or compassion in the past, I was afraid these new people would be cruel to me too, so I coward in my cage terrified of everyone. The people at the shelter decided I was too scared and deemed me “unadoptable”. I was put on the Big “E” list. Little did I know, my luck was about to change. One day as I sat in my cage, a CAAWS volunteer passed by and looked in and saw my mournful eyes. She knew that look as one of “please help me, don’t hurt me”, not one of aggression. She bent down and called to me in a kind voice. I perked up right away. I gave this lady tons of kisses and wagged my tail. I am now in a foster home where I get plenty of food, water, love and affection. I’m a little submissive at first, but am learning that all people aren’t bad. I love to snuggle and crawl up in laps to sleep. Surprising to my foster dad, I’m almost housetrained. My secret is “I just aim to please.” Regardless of what my last owners thought of me, I would make a great loyal addition to any family with children over the age of 12.
