My Story
(The fine print): If after reading Doug's adoption listing in full, you’d like to make this incredible dog a part of your family, please visit www.sanctuaryrescue.com and fill out an adoption questionnaire under the “forms” tab. Unfortunately, we don't receive any inquiries sent through the Petfinder system, so the only way to be considered for adoption is to fill out the adoption questionnaire on our website. If a dog’s listing is still up on Petfinder, then we’re still accepting adoption questionnaires/applications for them. Once a dog has been adopted, we will immediately remove their adoption listing. (The good part): Doug is perfect in every way. He's happy, he's friendly, he's goofy, and he's easily entertained! Doug loves car rides, leisurely walks around the neighborhood, naps, and any/every toy in his toy box. But most of all, Doug loves people. The more the merrier; more pets, more laps, more attention - he's a total ham! Doug greets everyone by wagging his entire body, and isn't shy about giving you a kiss on the cheek. Doug thrives in pretty much any environment:
Do you often have company over? Good! He loves every opportunity to make new friends!
Do you have a calmer/quieter household? Great! He can take so many naps!
Do you like to be outside? Perfect for sunbathing, count him in!
Maybe you love to read? Doug would love to curl up next to you for hours.
He truly fits in with any energy.
One thing always stays the same, Doug is such a sweet natured dog that genuinely loves companionship. He had a rough start to life. He spent the majority of his years chained up in a yard out in the country. Doug's gratitude for life's simple pleasures like: friends, couches, tennis balls, treats, and snuggles is as heartwarming as his ever present smile.
Doug is housetrained, has great leash walking manners, he's good with kids and other dogs, and let's repeat - he LOVES riding in the car!
Doug would make a great first dog for a young couple, or a great addition to an established family of 4/5/6, he'd even make the perfect fit for a single person looking for a new sidekick.
We aren't sure of his exact breed makeup. What we do know is that he looks a lot like a chocolate lab and he has all of the wonderful traits of one as well! We'll just say he's a perfect couch potato - that's a recognized breed, right?! Doug is about 7 years old.
Doug's adoption fee is $350, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, neuter, and microchip.
