My Story

Meet Dottie: A Sweet Survivor Looking for Her Forever Home Dottie’s story begins in the cold, noisy confines of a local kill shelter. She arrived as a puppy, unwanted and overlooked by potential adopters. Day after day, she waited, her only experience of life defined by the echoing barks and metal bars of the shelter. Her chances of survival grew slimmer with each passing week until the fateful moment when she was scheduled for euthanasia. That’s when we stepped in and saved her, offering her a second chance at life. Despite her rough start, Dottie is now 5 months old and has blossomed into an incredibly affectionate and sweet dog. She’s potty trained, understanding that the great outdoors is her bathroom. This smart girl knows how to sit for treats and food, although sometimes she needs a gentle reminder. Dottie comes when called and is motivated by food, treats, toys, and, most of all, attention. She’s a people pleaser, eager to learn and adapt to her new life outside the shelter. Dottie’s playful side shines through when she’s outside, running around and enjoying her freedom. Inside, she transforms into a laid-back cuddle bug, happiest when nestled next to you on the couch. She gets along well with other dogs, especially females and smaller pups, but can stand up for herself if a more dominant dog challenges her. However, her months in the shelter have left her a bit socially awkward. Dottie has some quirky habits, like thinking that pulling your hair is a sign of affection. She’s learning not to do this, and with consistent, gentle correction, she’s making great progress. Dottie also loves to stand on her back legs and hug you—an endearing but unusual behavior. Encouraging her to sit and rewarding her calm behavior can help her learn more typical ways to show affection. Despite these quirks, Dottie is a resilient and loving dog who has so much to offer. She is looking for a family who will appreciate her unique personality and help her continue to grow and thrive. If you’re ready to provide Dottie with the love and security she deserves, she will reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Could you be the one to give Dottie the forever home she’s been waiting for?
