My Story

**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics. Hi my name is Dolly and I know my name well. I'm about 8 months old and 9 pounds. I've got a slender body and long legs for a Chihuahua, not sure what else I'm mixed with, maybe some Italian Greyhound. I'm originally from KY where I was surrendered to the shelter because my owner lost our home. I was shy upon arrival from the shelter and unsure of the dogs in my foster home but within a few days my shyness vanished. I love to snuggle up with mom but only after I have done my crazy puppy antics. I jump from the couch to the chair and back again. Mom was worried I didn't know how to be a dog but that quickly changed. I love to run like the wind in the fenced in yard. I also love to wrestle with my foster fur siblings. My play biting is a little rough so my fur siblings are teaching me to play more gentle. I'm not crazy about being picked up, my legs go in every direction not knowing what you are doing to me but I do like to snuggle. I sit outside the shower or stand with my paws on the tub while mom is in there. I wonder if one day she will let me join her. I started going to the toy box and picking out my favorites to nibble on. Mom doesn't think I ever had the opportunity to be outside much which is why it's important for me to have a fenced in yard so I can run. I would love a fur sibling my size to play with. It's important they will want to play with me or I will be a nuisance trying. It's important we are both happy!! My owner told the shelter that I was housebroken and will use a puppy pad if available. The puppy pad statement is somewhat correct but I don't use it all the time. There are times I go so close to the edge it defeats the purpose. I am NOT housebroken. Even with a lot of encouragement I usually don't potty outside but will come in and use the puppy pad. I appear to be crate trained for a couple of hours but I have used an open crate to potty in. Due to my size and young age I'm not a match for humans who are young/small, seniors or big dogs. Not sure about living with a cat because my play biting will probably not be a good match. I am a food mooch and I beg when mom is eating. I don't get anything, not even a crumb! Mom thinks I was fed people food which is why I beg so much. I am a little scrawny but I'll get to my perfect weight. I am always underfoot especially in the kitchen. No food drops though, I don't get it! I ride good in the car in a little car seat. I'm not bad walking on a leash either. I'm just a really sweet little girl just looking for my forever....is that with you? Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
