Here is what Dodger's foster Mom has to say about this handsome pup!
Dodger has been with us for about three weeks and, oh boy, does he like to play!!! His current home has three male dogs, two cats and a couple of guinea pigs. He showed some interest in the pigs at first, but has since learned to ignore them.
He is respectful of the older alpha male and gives him all the space he asks for. He plays nearly non-stop with the other two dogs who are both around 30 pounds.
It took him a couple days to trust his environment enough to play - now chase each other constantly in our fenced in yard. So far, Dodger has not shown any desire to escape from the fenced in yard, but careful monitoring at his new home is needed within the first few days. He is an athletic boy and could easily jump over many fences.
Dodger is scared of men when he first meets them. He'd be most comfortable having at least one female who is willing to take the lead role with training and discipline. Since he is less than a year old he continues to have a lot of puppy energy – so he'll need daily exercise at his new home
. Dodger loves to jump up and can play a little rough so a home with small children is not recommended. Currently Dodger is crated at night and during the day when we are gone. He enjoys his crate and will go to it when we are home and he needs a nap.
Meet Dodger! He is a BEAUTIFUL Husky/lab mix who is in need of a new home.
Dodger was adopted to a family a few months ago, but it seems his playful, exuberant personality is proving too much for one of his other dog house mates. It is with a very heavy heart that his family has decided that they need to find Dodger a new home in deference to their older dogs wishes.
Dodger is about 8 months old, really still a puppy. He LOVES to play, so a home with a like minded dog would be great for him. Like most Nordic breeds, Dodger is very bright and easily bored, so he would need alot of excersize and metal stimlation. He is housetrained and crate trained, a very friendly lovable guy. If your looking for a wonderful, fun dog, look no further!

This dog is Urgent because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.
FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.
CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.
SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.
SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.
HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.
PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
